I have always been fascinated by the way light interacts with objects. I look for interesting objects and arrange them to achieve the interplay of light and shadow. The goal of my work is to elevate simple objects into dramatic artistic statements.

I work in the traditional medium of oil, in a painterly representational style. Painting is a passion in my life and serves as a celebration of the beauty that surrounds us.

I am a signature member of the Oil Painters of America, and have shown in numerous national and regional juried exhibitions.

My wife Linda Volrath, also an artist, and I met while painting in New mexico, and now reside in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.
